Copenhagen Cafeen has been around for over 20 years, but the location at Badstuegade between Strøget and Strædet has bar since the Middle Ages. The present building was constructed in 1798 and has a unique atmosphere of life and history. The walls are decorated with pictures of the royals, old maps, engravings and paintings on the burgundy red walls. The restaurant is a family business, and the guests are businessmen, journalists and MPs to tourists. In the middle of the room there´s a piano, which the guests are welcome to play. The kitchen offers classic Danish dishes. For lunch you can get a plate of open-faced sandwiches, beef with gravy and potatoes, omelettes or stew. In the evening you can also get traditional Danish dishes such shrimp cocktail, marinated salmon, Danish meatballs, wiener schnitzel, and of course, roast pork with parsley sauce, which is served every Monday and Tuesday. For Christmas tourists can experience the Danish Christmas dinner with roast pork and rice pudding. It is very popular and the entire restaurant can also be booked for parties up to 100 guests.
