The name of the restaurant means "The Meat Market Fish Bar", and the super trendy Kødbyen - The Meatpacking District - is the location for this informal, down-to-earth establishment, which has a New York feel with a large bar as the centerpiece.
There are long tables outside for warm days, and soft comfy sofas inside if you don't want to sit at the bar.
Fish and shellfish are main focus of the menu, but you can also get delicious meat courses. The prices are affordable, especially considering the quality.
The wine menu is created by the owner Anders Selmer, who used to be a sommelier at Noma, the world's best restaurant. He knows all the wine producers personally so the menu is a very personal and exclusively European also including a white wine from Lilleø. Several wines are available by the glass, and the prices are very reasonable.
After dinner on the weekends there´s a lot of activity around the bar, where people are staying around for innovative drinks from local ingredients or to visit the bar next door bar, which has the same owners.
Fiskebaren is very popular, so reservations are advised - these can be made easily on the website. But places at the bar cannot be reserved, so it is worth dropping by to see if there is room.
