On a corner of Prinsessegade just off Nyboder lies Kokkeriet, which is one of Denmark's leading gourmet restaurants.
In 2009, the restaurant was awarded one star in the Michelin Guide for the restaurant's superb food and wine. The star remains to this day and the atmosphere is still relaxed, welcoming and with great attention to guests' relaxation and comfort.
The interior is warm and inviting, and the restaurant room includes works of art by Marco Evaristti.
The kitchen is headed by David Johansen, who strives to recreate the memories of the great, classic Danish dishes that the Danes sometimes forget or take for granted. David Johansen uses the familiar tastes and molds them into new and surprising flavor combinations.
It is possible to choose the large 12-course menu with accompanying wine menu, but there is also the option for a slightly smaller version. From Monday to Thursday you can go aboard the cheaper 'The Light Menu', which consists of a welcome champagne, four courses with wine menu and coffee with sweets priced at 1500 DKK in total. If you dine at Kokkeriet on Tuesdays, you are also exposed to the 'Tuesday Test', where the smaller menu is upgraded for free with four extra dishes that the kitchen is in the process of developing.
On Wednesdays the restaurant invites promising chef students from across the country to test their skills in a Michelin kitchen. The students' four extra dishes are also free on top of your menu order on Wednesdays.
The classic wines from France weigh heavily on the extensive wine list, but there is also room for the rest of the world, and there are also opportunities to taste some of the world's best natural wines.
Kokkeriet also offers cooking schools and catering. It is also possible to hold private dinners for large companies in Kokkeriets exclusive chambre separée.
