Nyhavn attracts visitors all year. The oldest house in Nyhavn is situated on the so-called "sunny side" and was built in 1681, shortly after the canal of Nyhavn was inaugurated by King Christian V. Today that building is where you'll find Restaurant Leonora Christine.
The rooms have been carefully restored. The table cloths are white, the chairs have upholstered seats and wicker backs, there are lots of candles and painting in golden frames underline the romantic atmosphere.
There is room for approximately 50 persons and it is normally recommendable to book ahead, especially for weekends and if you wish to sit at a favourite table .
Lunch is classical Danish open-faced sandwiches. The evening menu could be the tasting menu with five or six courses or the menu of the month consisting and two or three courses.
As soon as the spring arrives, tables are placed on the area in front of the restaurant and guests can enjoy the bustle of passing pedestrians.
Leonora Christine has its own little courtyard where tables are also found in the warm summer months. Here you feel put back 200 years surrounded by tudor buildings that look as if you could meet Hans Christian Andersen or some of his contemporaries strolling by any minute.
