Lo-Jo's Social is a colorful Australian restaurant and bar in an ultra central location just off the Round Tower and Kultorvet.
The owner is Australian George Booth, who has many years experience as a restaurateur and bar owner in Sydney and Bali. The decor is lively and colorful, with large murals and chairs and tables in all sorts of colors. All tables have highchairs, the idea is that all the guests, both diners and those in the bar must be in roughly the same height. It provides a good dynamic in the room, and you can eat standing up, without it being strange at all, explains George.
The food is in the 'comfort food' genre - a series of classic fast-food favorites that have been revamped and added a shot of inspiration especially from South American cuisine. The chicken Burger consists, for example, a chicken breast, which are marinated in buttermilk overnight and then breaded and fried crispy ultra in the fryer. The freshness is preserved using fresh cilantro, råsyltede onions, spicy corn cream and coleslaw.
You can also get lime and cilantro marinated chicken wings and a number of interesting salads with unusual ingredients, including beef heart salad with capers and kimchi.
Every Tuesday is 'Mussel Tuesday' with freshly caught mussels ad libitum for 90 kroner. On Tuesdays there are no bookings, but instead people are encouraged to come and have a drink in a casual setting. There is a small but very reasonably priced wine list with several organic- and biodynamic wines. Cocktail card is huge, and George has many years of shaking experience, so you have every opportunity to continue the dinner with a few good drinks.
