Mandalay is a newly opened lunch restaurant in Nyhavn, with a great emphasis on the interior design. From the ceiling hangs lamps designed by some of the most well known Danish designers, such as Verner Panton and Poul Henningsen's son, Simon Henningsen.
The dining room is light and quite small and the designer furniture provides a very nice ambiance. A staircase leads to the top floor, where you'll find further tables as well as a great view of charming old Nyhavn on the other side of the canal.
The menu offers classic, Danish-style open-faced sandwiches and a good selection of both classic and specialty beers. The wine list is small, but is very reasonably priced and offers biodynamic wines exclusively. Espresso coffee and a selection of cakes is also available here. Everything on the menu is also available for take-away.
On the weekend, the restaurant has extended opening hours, offering a selection of drinks and good tunes to get you ready for the weekend.
