The name translates as "Old Family Garden" and it is certainly old, as it celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2008.
Danish food traditions are alive and well here. Hash, roast pork with parsley sauce, steak with onion, schnitzel, omelette and smørrebrød - open-faced sandwiches. The Frederiksberg casserole is a speciality: sirloin of pork with sausages, bacon, onion and mushrooms in a paprika cream sauce is always on the menu.
There is a playground for children, a pianist on weekdays, live music at the weekend and a dance floor, it is definitely a place for the whole family. There are room for 1000 seated guests - and you can sit inside or outside in the garden, which feels almost like being in a forest, because there are so many trees.
