The Danish Royal Horticultural Society Garden is just to the left of the main entrance of Frederiksberg Gardens. In this beautiful garden you will find a wealth of classic and modern garden space with roses and a fountain. Right here in this little paradise you will find the restaurant Mielcke & Hurtigkarl. The location is among the city's most romantic and the food is in a league of its own. Behind Mielcke & Hurtigkarl are chefs Jacob Mielcke and Jan Hurtigkarl. The two have previously run a restaurant together in Ålsgårde, but in 2008 they changed location into the rooms that formerly housed Jan Hurtigkarl Karl's father, Roy Hurtigkarl’s restaurant Gastronomique. The house, which dates from the 1600s, has been renovated and has a modern look. The space is creatively furnished, while ensuring respect for the old building's original style. When the weather permits it, it is possible to enjoy dinner outdoors with view to the beautiful garden. The menu is based on which raw ingredients are available in the particular season. This means that they are constantly updating and creating the menu. The goal is to create a number of surprises at the table to the delight the guests. The evening menu is a contemporary menu where you can choose between 7 or 5 dishes. The kitchen is self-sufficient with herbs from the garden just outside. The wine at the wine list suit the dishes and constantly updated by sommelier José Santos. The wine list is dominated by well-known areas of France, but you'll also find great wines from other European and overseas wine regions. Mielcke & Hurtigkarl host private parties and corporate events.
